It's time to implement these spring break child custody tips

Spring break is an exciting time of the year for children of all ages. For example, if you have high school-aged children, there's a good chance they get a few extra days off during this time of the year.

Depending on your schedule, you may have big plans to spend extra time with your children during spring break. However, if you have a parenting agreement and visitation schedule, it's critical to follow it as closely as possible.

Here are some tips you can follow to better plan spring break with your children:

  • Plan in advance: If you have special plans, such as wanting to take your children on a trip, discuss it with your ex as soon as possible. Bringing it up at the last minute has the chance to result in disagreement, especially if your ex has their own plans.
  • Stick to your schedule: Once you settle on a schedule, do your best to stick to it. Changing times, dates or plans at the last minute will throw your ex (and your children) for a curve.
  • Share reminders: For example, when you're one week out from your departure time, if you're taking a trip, send an email or text to your ex with any last-minute details.

If you're concerned about your ability to share parenting time during spring break, among other events throughout the year, it may be time to seek a modification of your child custody order.

By doing so, you can protect your legal rights and ensure that you get to spend your fair share of time with your children in the future.
