Another state adopts grandparents' rights bill

Florida's neighboring state of Georgia has recently passed a house bill that would allow grandparents to petition for the court ordered rights of grandparents to be allowed to visit their grandchildren. This bill is similar to legislation proposed or passed on other states that would enhance the non-parental custody and visitation rights of grandparents.

Is more equality in parenting time good policy?

In Florida, the non-custodial parent is allowed at least 40 percent of the parenting time when it comes to their children. This is quite unique in that the parenting time for non-custodial parents in most states is more limited.

Divorce is sometimes best for the children

Florida couples often hesitate to file for divorce under the mistaken assumption that what would be best for the children is for both parents to remain together. However, the opposite is often the case. The bad feelings between husband and wife often adversely affect the child and result in every party involved being unhappy.
